Recurrent Miscarriage

Recurrent miscarriage is a phrase used to describe circumstances in which a woman has had three or more miscarriages in a row. It impacts around 1% of women. In these circumstances, the miscarriages aren’t the consequence of a random happening but an underlying problem.

Recurrent miscarriages can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

  • Anatomical problems of the uterus (constructional anomalies, diaphragms, fibroids, etc.)
  • Thrombophilia’s (abnormalities in the coagulation mechanisms of the blood)
  • Endocrinological anomalies (diabetes, thyroid disease, etc.)
  • Genetic causes (numeral or structural chromosomal abnormalities of the embryos)
  • Immunological factors

We cannot recognize a precise etiology in about half of all recurrent miscarriages. According to research, women in this group had a 70% probability of successfully delivering a baby in a subsequent pregnancy without needing medical assistance. For all recurrent miscarriages, complete investigations and consultations are available at our cooperating clinics. Screening is not restricted to women who have had three or more miscarriages; tests can begin as early as the woman’s age and her personal history.
